How does it work?

The procedure is simple. A peroxide gel is applied to your teeth, and then a gentle blue light is focused on your teeth to activate the gel. The procedure is quick and painless. Some patients report having mild tooth or gum sensitivity following their BriteSmile treatment. We can provide an anesthetic gel for these patients. Any sensitivity should go away within a day or so.

Advantages of BriteSmile

The BriteSmile procedure can whiten your teeth up to 14 shades. For most people, 14 shades is a bit too much, producing an unnaturally white smile. Keep in mind, however, that the best take-home kits can only whiten up to six shades. If your teeth are severely stained, you may need more than six shades' worth of whitening. Another problem with take-home kits, strips, trays and toothpastes is that these methods cannot guarantee uniform whiteness across your entire smile. With BriteSmile, you can be sure you will leave the dentist's office with natural-looking and uniform results.

Other in-office professional whitening systems use a higher concentration peroxide gel and promise faster and superior results. Keep in mind that a higher concentration of peroxide translates into more tooth and gum sensitivity. BriteSmile uses a modest 15 percent concentration to avoid the pain and discomfort associated with higher peroxide concentrations.
